The Great Kite Auction is OVER!

If you were the highest bidder, you will know it. I will be in contact in the next day or so. Thank you, all of you, who made this last day which began in Canberra with the filming of  the kites hanging in exhibition at Gorman House, then the  packing up of the 30 kites from the exhibition at Gorman House, and ended in Brisbane post flight, followed by final dramatic hours and wild last few minutes of December 7.
THANK YOU FOR TAKING PART IN THE HOPE FLIES PROJECT!
I will talk to all of those who bid to find out if we can release their names or if they would prefer to remain anonymous. Stay tuned!
I will leave the comments open for another day so you can send messages to the kite makers :).     LOVE Isobelle

1.  Use the View All button

2.  Scroll through kite images

3.  Choose your favourite kite.

4.  Bid at the base of the artists page.

You can see the kites  for the rest of November in Smith’s Alternative window then on Dec 1 they will be moved Gorman House Arts Centre F block Gallery for one week. This is the last time they can all be seen in one venue.

Isobelle Carmody organised the Hope Flies project, with the help of some of Australia’s best known and loved illustrators and artists, to raise funds for Redkite. Under the What is Hope Flies button, you can find out more about this lovely, long-standing and reputable charity that takes care of families dealing with childhood cancer. You can also learn what gave Isobelle the idea for Hope Flies and how it links with her new book, and about how she made the kites with a lot of help from friends. You can read about the legion of people who helped her put this idea into play under the Acknowledgements button.

You can support Redkite not only by bidding on a kite, but by publicising this online auction to help us reach as many people as possible!

Please post this website whenever you can, and honour the artists that donated their work by posting the kites as they are revealed. To post about a particular artist, go to their page then take the link from the browser and post that.

Remember if you are outbid, you can donate a little directly to Redkite rather than bidding on a kite – the amount is tax deductible and the cause is truly important.

Introducing...the Kites - (to see them all, use the view all button.)

The kites are now all revealed, and the auction is proceeding. It will go on until December 5. To bid on a kite, check where the bid is at on the top of the artists page, then scroll to the bottom where you will be able to see the kite and make a bid. You will receive an email confirming the bid, but you need to come back and check to ensure your bid is the highest bid. If not, someone else has the kite until and if they are outbid. We are raising money for Redkite so every new bid means we can hand over more money.

While we're waiting for the kite auction bidding to begin on 27th November, why not make a donation in the mean time?

Donate today

For more than 40 years, Redkite has been helping families hold it together when the child they love has cancer. Your support will ensure Redkite can be there with real financial, practical, and mental health support for families facing childhood cancer. Redkite provides counselling for parents and children as well as specialist social workers to help families cope with the challenges they face. They help cover day-to-day expenses such as bills, groceries, and fuel when parents are caring for their child and unable to work.

Isobelle has pledged to raise $5000, and every dollar donated helps to support a family facing childhood cancer.
